Boys water polo downed by Newman
Co-captain Peter Armstrong prepares to score against Cardinal Newman High School during Wednesday’s water polo match at Agua Caliente Aquatic Center. The Cardinals from Santa Rosa were seeking to avenge their 12-15 loss to the Dragons earlier in the season, and they succeeded, by a final score of 11-7.
The teams were tied after the first quarter at 2 goals apiece, but the Cardinals scored 4 times in the second period to open a lead they never relinquished. Three scores by the Dragons within a minute and a half late in the game narrowed the gap but was not enough to put the match in doubt.
The Dragons’ next game is Monday, at Terra Linda.
