No end to Halloween parties around town this weekend
Whether you’re feeling like hitting a conga line with Carmen Miranda or raising the spirits in a restaurant that used to be a morgue, here is a spooktacular line-up to help you find the perfect haunt!
The Sonoma Community Center always puts on quite the bash for Halloween and this year is no different. On Saturday, Oct. 31, The Whiskey Thieves will open for James Marshall Berry & the Berry Brothers Band. For a small cover enjoy dancing, a no-host bar, face and body painting, and a costume contest with $50 prizes for best male and female costume. The doors open at 8:30 p.m. for those 21+ and tickets will be available at the door or in advance at Sonoma Valley Music, Pharmaca, or Readers’ Books. Call 707.938.8623 for more details.
Feeling jazzy this Halloween? Join the enchanting Dana Land Quartet for a Halloween Jazz Bash at The Lodge at Sonoma. Join Carmen Miranda in a conga line. Enter the costume contest. Dance the night away in a special event brought to you by the Sonoma Valley Jazz Society. Show starts at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31 and there is no cover. Other events from Sonoma Valley Jazz Society this weekend include Grant Levin, also at The Lodge and The Brian Nova Trio including Terry Miller on bass and Andy Eberhard on drums at The Plaza Bistro. Both of those shows start at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30.
Steiners Tavern is having their fourth annual Halloween Haunt this Saturday, Oct. 31. BackTrax will perform classic oldies and rock ‘n’ roll beginning at 10 p.m. and will also be the judges for the costume contest. There will be prizes and there is no cover.
The Dragon’s Head Inn folks are helping to deck the halls spooky style for Emmy’s Spaghetti Shack’s Halloween line-up. The staff will be in costume both Friday and Saturday nights with stories about the restaurant known for its history as a home to those who’ve passed to the beyond. Friday, Oct. 30, enjoy a funky costume party with DJ Alex Lacy. Saturday, Oct. 31 dress up again for the Reggae Dancehall Party with DJ Rascue. Win prizes in the costume contest and freaky fashion show. Both nights there is a small cover beginning at 10 p.m. The kitchen will be closing at that time as well. Ten Foot Tone invites you to party with them both nights this weekend beginning with a show at Olive & Vine, Friday, Oct. 30. They will play an unplugged performance beginning at 7 p.m. with no cover. Saturday, Oct. 31 they will play their annual Halloween show at The El Verano Inn with spooky surprises and of course, another costume contest. That show begins at 9:30 p.m.
If Zydeco is more your thing, Little Switzerland wants to invite you to a costume party with popular band, Gator Beat. The event is from 8 p.m. to midnight beginning with a dance lesson. For cover information call 707.938.9990.
Murphy’s has Thick Soup performing on Friday, Oct. 30 and The Carrtunes on Saturday, Oct. 31. Both have no cover and begin at 8 p.m. Jon Popenoe & Friends will be at The Sonoma Market Place for Jazz in the Gazebo, Friday, Oct. 30 at 5:30 p.m. Enjoy a pleasant start to your Halloween activities with a special afternoon show at Landmark Vineyards, Saturday, Oct. 31 with The Joe Chaplain Band presenting Ichabod Chaplain & the Lazy Bones beginning at 1 p.m. Mondo has Hard Travelin’ for their Oct. 31 entertainment at 7:30 p.m. Finally, Sebastiani Winery will host The Deborah Winters Jazz Band Friday, Oct. 30 at 7 p.m. in the Barrel Room.
