Hoop teams fall in pre-season play

Both Sonoma Valley High varsity basketball squads failed to find the win column last week, as a tough pre-season slate readies the squads for their respective league openers after the first of the year.
The boys squad posted losses to San Marin and Moreau Catholic on consecutive nights and the Lady Dragons dropped contests to Napa and Justin – Siena last week.
Casey Rogina’s squad played Liberty on Wednesday, with results unavailable at press time. The boys will travel to Seattle for a holiday tournament to conclude the pre-season next week. On Jan. 5 the boys will open SCL play against Casa Grande in Petaluma.
Sil Coccia’ Lady Dragons had two early-week contests, Tuesday against Vintage and Wednesday against Acalanes that will be recapped in next week’s Sun. The Lady Dragons are playing on the road against Rancho Cotate on Dec. 30 to wrap up the pre-season before entertaining Casa Grande on Jan. 6 in the SCL opener for both teams.
