Four new board members for Pets Lifeline
Staff report
Pets Lifeline has appointed Monica Dashwood, Irene Gilbert, Trina Oliver and Joe Orlando to its board of directors. Dashwood, a general management executive will serve as a director, Gilbert, an attorney, will oversee the legal and human resource committees, Oliver will lead the community relations efforts and Orlando will serve as treasurer for the ten member board of Pets Lifeline.
Each of the new board members brings experience in both the professional arena as well as with shelter animals.
Currently Dashwood is the president and founder of Gaining Insights – a professional consulting, leadership coaching, and facilitation service for organizations and individuals. She lives in Sonoma with her husband, two sons and three shelter cats.
Gilbert is currently general counsel for GreenPoint Mortgage. She and her spouse live with four cats named Romeo, Zippy, Inky and Peanut and one dog named Magoo. Romeo and Magoo were adopted from Pets Lifeline. These two special companions, and the role Pets Lifeline played in bringing them into her life, inspired Gilbert to bring her legal expertise to the shelter.
Oliver, a Glen Ellen resident for 13 years, lives with her husband and two dogs. Jackson is a harlequin great dane adopted from Pets Lifeline and Stella is a rescued blue tick hound. Oliver works with her husband doing CAD architectural drawings for his design business.
Orlando is a senior manager with Frank, Rimerman + Co. LLP’s Business Valuation Group and leads their valuation practice for the wine industry in St. Helena. He lives with his wife, twin boys and a 9 year-old dachshund named Oscar in Sonoma.
Board President George Bradley said, “As we continue to face the challenge of providing care and shelter to nearly 800 animals per year in the Sonoma Valley, the addition of these four bright, energetic and professional local individuals is most welcome. We are truly thankful that they are willing to serve their community.”’
These additions increase the number of Pets Lifeline directors to ten. In addition to Dashwood, Gilbert, Oliver and Orlando, the members of Pets Lifeline’s board include President George Bradley, owner of Paradise Flowers; Secretary Marilyn Kelly, retired superintendent of the Sonoma Valley Unified School District; Tom Cygnar of Springsroad Wine Business Consulting; Barbara Johnsen, interior designer; Deanna Schwab of Arroyo Veterinary Hospital, and Ann Jones, small business owner and interior designer.
