And now for something completely different…unique musical venues for the weekend
Jack London State Park is having a birthday. On Sunday, June 27 a celebration will take place honoring the 50th anniversary of the park. There will be many activities suited for the whole family as well as wine and food tastings for adults. Mobius Jazz Quartet will play in the Old Winery Ruins and Sonoma Hometown Band will perform in the meadow at Beauty Ranch. The party takes place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 2400 London Ranch Road in Glen Ellen.
The Sonoma-Marin Fair began yesterday, June 23 at the Petaluma Fairgrounds and continues through Sunday, June 27. This brings the opportunity to see some big concerts for free with admission to the fair. Tonight, Thursday, June 24, Billboard country chart topper, Clay Walker will take the stage. Rock legend, Joan Jett will perform with her band the Blackhearts on Friday, June 25. On Saturday, June 26 Lucy Walsh will open for Pablo Cruise. All three nights begin at 8 p.m.
Saddles “Summer Music Series” is back this year in full force. Taking place in the Verdana Garden on Sundays, music and special menus are available from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 27, the entertainment will be from The John Kalleen Group.
Jon Popenoe will perform jazz with Stuart Sperring, Lance Harrington, and Les Seeley on Friday, June 25 at 5 p.m. at the Sonoma Marketplace Gazebo.
Meritage Martini & Oyster Bar has a special event on Friday, June 25. The Joe Chaplain Band will perform familiar covers beginning at 7 p.m. Tickets are very inexpensive and can be purchased in advance at Sonoma Valley Music. On Wednesdays, they are now featuring a live Flamenco guitarist from 6:30 to 9 p.m. with no cover.
Cynthia Glinka will present Taste & Twirl every last Sunday of the month through summer at Jacuzzi Family Vineyards. This Sunday’s event on June 27 is a social swing dance featuring Adoni and His Band. No partner is necessary, singles are encouraged, and all ages are welcome. Those over 21 may enjoy complimentary wine tastings. The live entertainment is performed in the Barrel Room. For more information or tickets call 707.931.7551. There is a discount for Jacuzzi Wine Club Members.
Getting back to the usual locations starting with Murphy’s Irish Pub, the music begins on Thursday, June 24 with a pub debut from the Courtney Janes. The duo performs at 7:30 p.m. On Friday, June 25 Celtic music, ancient to modern, will be played by Boys Night Out at 8 p.m. High Country returns with bluegrass at 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 26. Greenhouse will perform Celtic fusion on Sunday, June 27 at 6 p.m. No cover for any night.
Steiners Tavern has reggae DJ, Robert Roots, on Thursday, June 24. The Sean Carscadden Trio will be there on Friday, June 25. DJ Dave returns with dance hits on Saturday, June 26. All three nights begin at 10 p.m. with no cover.
Sebastiani Winery presents Tome Duarte at 6:30 p.m. Friday, June 25. No cover.
Dana Land Trio will perform for “Jazz in the Back” at the Plaza Bistro this Friday, June 25 at 7 p.m. She is joined by pianist Jonathan Alford and bassist John Hoy.
Landmark Winery has music from Jim Adams at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 26. All ages welcome.
Mondo has David Hinkley at 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 26. Uncle Jesse and the Porch Junkies will perform at a special time of 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 30.
Crazy Noisy Music Karaoke returns to the Blue Moon Saloon at 9 p.m. on Saturday, June 26.
Monday, June 28 in the bar section at The Big 3, Good Fellows will perform from 7 to 9 p.m.
Sue Albano and Mark Dennis will be next week’s Farmers Market entertainment beginning at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 29.
