Take your pick: Broadway musical, paella, or Dixieland jazz?
Tony Award winning musical, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, based on the 1988 movie of the same name, will hit Sonoma in its North Bay premiere. Hoochi-Doo Productions is presenting the comedy at The Playbox in the Sonoma Charter School. Under the direction of J. Anthony Martin, locals taking part in the show are Cindy Brillhart-True, Julia Holsworth, Emma Palace and Jim Valvavanis. They are joined by actors from around the county as well as Marin. The show runs Fridays through Sundays beginning this Friday, July 16 and ending with a matinee on Sunday, Aug 1. Friday and Saturday shows begin at 8 p.m. and Sunday matinees are at 3 p.m. To purchase tickets in advance, call 332.0621 or pick them up at Readers’ Books.
The Little Vineyards Family Winery in Glen Ellen invites all of Sonoma to a Summer Paella Party. On Saturday, July 17 the event takes place from 4 to 9 p.m. Featured Chef, Gerard Nebesky will prepare wonderful treats while visitors are entertained by the Josh Little Trio. Cline is having a Dixieland Jazz Festival this Saturday, July 17 beginning at 11 a.m. Music will include the Devil Mountain Jazz Band, Black Diamond Blue Six, San Francisco Feetwarmers, and many others. Unified Sound District and Lion’s Den Entertainment present Million Stylez backed by the 7th Street Band at the Moose Lodge on Broadway. Appearing with them on Friday, July 16, is Winstrong and DJs Konex, Penavision, Irie Sounds International, and Moses G. Dinner is served from 6 to 8 p.m. and music begins after, going until midnight. This is an all ages show and there is a discount before 10 p.m.
Murphy’s Irish Pub starts the weekend off with Kimrea and Dreamdogs performing at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 15. Tim Curley and the Cork Pullers perform Americana on Friday, July 16 at 8 p.m. On Saturday, July 17 at 8 p.m. enjoy folk music from the Perfect Crime. On Sunday, July 18, EZ Kewl performs at 6 p.m. The Tuesday Night Farmers Market “After Party” on July 20 will include music from Dan Martin and Tony Gibson. At the market itself on the Sonoma Plaza, Fred McCarty will perform.
Thursday, July 15, is the second karaoke night of the month at Steiners Tavern. Singing begins at 9:30 p.m. and goes until closing. BackTrax will perform at 10 p.m. on Friday, July 16. DJ Dave returns to spin at 10 p.m. on Saturday, July 17. Sunday, July 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. listen to a solo acoustic performance from Glenn Carter.
The Friday night music series at Sebastiani Winery continues July, 16 at 6:30 p.m. with Mary Jenson. Jazz on Sunday, July 18, brought in by Sonoma Valley Jazz Society, will be performed by David Prescott at 1 p.m.
Jazz in the back at the Plaza Bistro this Friday, July 16 will be guitarist Terrence Brewer Trio with Tim Campbell on organ and Suria Patri on drums. That begins at 7 p.m.
Thursday, July 15 Dave Roche will perform from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Wedekind’s Garden Center. Tudo Bem will be at Olde Sonoma Public House on Thursday July 15 at 7 p.m.
Friday, July 16 at Olive & Vine the Rett Hamer Blues Band will play at 7 p.m. Also Friday, July 16 at 7 p.m. at Lokal, Jon Popenoe has a solo performance.
EZ Kewl will be at the Schellville Grill at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 16. On Saturday, July 17 they will be at the Quarryhill Botanical Gardens in Glen Ellen at 5 p.m.
The Whiskey Thieves will perform at 8 p.m. at Mondo on Wednesday, July 21.
