The City Party is back!
The annual Sonoma Community Center City Party sponsored by the Sonoma Valley Rotary Club will be next Tuesday, July 27 in the Sonoma Plaza. On the opposite side of the park from the Farmers Market, a huge stage is set up behind City Hall. Bene Rather-Taylor has become a staple of this year’s Farmers Market bringing her hoops, similar to the Hula Hoop, to the park every week showing off her skills and teaching others. Her troop will have a special hoop dance performance followed by the incredible Sonoma County band, Crossfire. Crossfire’s bandleader is Michael Halem, owner of Halem & Co. on the Plaza. The party starts at 5:30 p.m. and is free to all.
Cornerstone’s monthly music performance will be Saturday, July 24 at the Grange Tasting Room. The acoustic performance will be from Blame Sally with special guest Fran Snyder. The doors open at 7:30 p.m. with the music starting at 8 p.m. This intimate performance is limited to fewer than 100 seats. Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling 415.706.3800.
Bluegrass Bar & Grill in Glen Ellen now has music every Thursday night from 6 to 8 p.m. Enjoy live music out on the decks and special menu items like fresh oysters, shrimp Louie salad, prawn BLT sandwiches and more. Tonight, Thursday, July 22, EZ Kewl will perform. EZ Kewl will also be performing at the Apple Box in Petaluma on Friday, July 23 at 6 p.m. and at the Schellville Grill Saturday, July 24 at 7 p.m.
Jon Popenoe also has a number of shows this weekend. Friday, July 23 in the Sonoma Marketplace Gazebo the show will be Jon Popenoe and friends. They play from 5 to 6:30 p.m. with Baskin Robbins offering a discount throughout the show. On Sunday, July 25 the Jon Popenoe Duo will play at St. Clement Vineyards in Napa from 3 to 6 p.m. Finally, on Monday, July 26 Jon will perform solo acoustic at the Big 3 Diner at the Sonoma Mission Inn. That begins at 7 p.m.
Steiners Tavern has DJs on Thursday, July 22 and Saturday, July 23. The Whiskey Thieves will pack the house on Friday, July 23. All nights the music begins at 10 p.m.
Jaydub & Dino will perform electric porch fusion on Thursday, July 22 at Murphy’s Irish Pub beginning at 7:30 p.m. The next two nights are bluegrass music with the David Thom Band on Friday, July 23 and Dr. Elmo & Wild Blue on Saturday, July 24. Both nights start at 8 p.m. On Sunday, July 25 Marty O’Reilly and Sean Carscadden return to play blues, folk, and soul at 6 p.m. The Tuesday Farmers Market “After Party” music will be Americana from the Greenstring Farm Band on July 27.
Alex Garcia Jazz Ensemble will play at Wedekind’s Garden Center from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 22.
Friday, July 23 the Cynthia Tarr Band will perform at Olive and Vine in Glen Ellen. That begins at 7 p.m. with no cover. “Jazz in the Back” at the Plaza Bistro welcomes vocalist Pamela Rose with Wayne De La Cruz on organ, Sonya Jason on sax, and Kent Bryson on drums. That show also begins at 7 p.m.
The Hellhounds wander out to Napa to Uva Trattoria Italiana to perform on Saturday, July 24 at 8:30 p.m. They will be there every second and fourth Saturday of the month through the end of the year.
The Sunday jazz at Sebastiani Winery this July 25 will be performed by Elaine Lucia. That show is from 1 to 4 p.m. in the tasting room.
Wednesday, July 28, Steve Serra will provide the music at Mondo American Beer Garden. Music starts at 7 p.m.
