So much music, so little time.

The Whiskey Thieves are playing at the 6th Annual Microbrew Tasting and Flag Day Celebration. The event is put on by the Native Sons Sonoma Parlor #111 from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 14. “No red cups here, just great beer!” Aside from the music, there is microbrew tasting with 28 brewers, a chicken and hot dog barbeque, and the raising of the Bear Flag re-enactment. Nina Storey is performing tonight, Friday June 12 at En-er-gy Fitness Studio. From Nina’s blog: “I’m also excited to play this great space in Sonoma which will be set up in the intimate house concert fashion!” This recording artist has more than a handful of CDs to her name and has been working nonstop on a new album, which hopefully we’ll get the opportunity to preview at the show. This is another BYOB event with dinner served before the show at a special price. Doors open for dinner at 6:30 p.m. and the music begins at 8 p.m. Call 707.799.5959 for info.
Yours truly, Cat Smith, will be performing with SonomaSong on Saturday, June 13 for the 7th Annual Twilight and Jazz in the Vineyards at Gundlach Bundschu Winery. This is a benefit for the WillMar Center for Bereaved Children. Bring a picnic, bundle up, and enjoy a great rock ‘n roll show. Tickets in advance are advised and can be purchased at the WillMar Center, Sonoma Valley Bank and Pharmaca. Gate opens at 5:30 with a 7 p.m. show time.
Congratulations to Bill Casey who won tickets to the Battle of the Bands simply by listening to The Mix Tape on KSVY! It is happening tonight, Friday, June 12 at the Napa Valley Opera House.
Ten Foot Tone is performing at the El Verano Inn Saturday, June 13 at 9:30 p.m. EZ Kewl has been keeping busy with near-to-town gigs. They are playing the Aqus Café in Petaluma Friday, June 12 at 6:30 p.m. and Aroma Roasters in Santa Rosa at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, June 13.
Starting off the jazz events this weekend, look for Jon Popenoe and Friends at Jazz in the Gazebo in the Sonoma Marketplace. That is Friday, June 12 at 5 p.m. Also Friday, The Lodge at Sonoma has pianist Dick Conte in the Gallery Lounge at 7 p.m. On the Plaza, your two choices are the Plaza Bistro or the Ledson Hotel. The Bistro welcomes Mal Sharpe Big Money & Jazz at 7 p.m. with no cover. At Ledson catch The Jess Petty-Ken Chamber Duo, which starts at 6 p.m. There is a cover for the Ledson show. Finally, end the weekend at The Lodge once again with jazz vocalist Jonathan Poretz at 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 13.
Local Michael Hinton will be headlining in San Francisco at the Haight Street Fair Sunday, June 14 along with band members Narada Michael Walden, David Grisman and Tony Saunders. This is a free show beginning at 11 a.m. to celebrate the 42nd anniversary of the “Summer of Love.”
And the music doesn’t stop there. Murphy’s Irish Pub’s lineup includes The Carrtunes on Friday, June 12 and The Corkpullers on Saturday, June 13. Both shows are at 8 p.m. with a 6 p.m. show on Sunday, June 14 with David Aguilar and Peter McCauley of Tudo Bem. Little Switzerland is also a happening spot with DJ Juan spinning Latin music on Friday, June 12 and the Steve Balich Band on Sunday, June 14 at 5 p.m. Both shows have a cover so call 707.938.9990 for more details.
